The
Fort Worth Police Department works closely with the City of Fort
Worth Gang Graffiti Abatement Program.
There
are two types of graffiti: gang graffiti and tagger graffiti. Graffiti
is marking on property of another without consent. Gang graffiti
is graffiti which relates to a particular gang. Tagger graffiti
is graffiti which relates to a particular person or crew. A crew
consists of 5 to 10 individuals who "tag."
You
can help defeat the problem of graffiti by removing it from your
property as soon as possible. If you need assistance in removing
graffiti from your property, contact the Graffiti Abatement Unit,
at 212-2700.
Please
report the crime of graffiti as soon as possible to the Graffiti
Abatement Program at (817)212-2700 and your Neighborhood Patrol
Officer or the Police Non-Emergency number (817) 335-4222.

Why
should I care about graffiti?
Not
only is graffiti unattractive, it lowers property values and encourages
other types of crime in neighborhoods. By removing graffiti promptly,
property owners can send a message to the people responsible for
graffiti.
How
can I remove graffiti from my property?
The
City of Fort Worth's Graffiti Abatement Program (GAP) helps property
owners remove graffiti from their property AT NO COST.
What
services does GAP provide?
GAP
operates a paint bank. Owners of vandalized property may receive
up to five gallons of FREE paint every three months to eliminate
graffiti on their property. The Graffiti Patrol, which paints over
graffiti on park and public properties. A private company is contracted
by the Graffiti Abatement Program to remove graffiti from commercial
and private properties.
How
can I get FREE paint?
If
your property has been vandalized come to the Satellite Paint Bank
located at 920 Woodward, just east of the White Settlement Road/Henderson
Street intersection, near downtown Fort Worth. You will need to
bring with you:

pictures
of the graffiti
-
a picture
ID
-
proof
of ownership or residency at the property (such as a recent
water bill, electric bill, or tax statement)

Does
the type of property matter?
No.
FREE paint is available for private residences as well as commercial
properties.
Can
I get help with labor?
Yes.
You will need to complete a form allowing the Graffiti Abatement
Program permission to remove the graffiti from your property.
What
is the Graffiti Patrol?
The
Graffiti Patrol was created by the City of Fort Worth, and is composed
of two city employees and many volunteers. Additional work is done
by adults on work release from the municipal jail and juveniles
who must perform court mandated community service. In addition to
painting over graffiti, the Graffiti Patrol also uses sandblasting
and mural painting to help control graffiti.
What
is the Satellite Paint Bank?
The
Satellite Paint Bank stores paint for use by private citizens and
the Graffiti Patrol.

City of Fort Worth to allow graffiti to remain on your property.
