The
Community Policing Forums are conducted to:
-
Build a
better verbal dialogue between the community
and the police department
-
Maintain
a continuous working relationship and address the various concerns
of the community.
The meetings
allow community groups and residents the opportunity to hear about
the latest projects, programs, ask questions and give feedback to
numerous police officials.

Introductory remarks by Chief Halstead.
Officer Alan Speed gave an informational talk on the Explorer Program.
Ms Lewis (Wedgewood Neighborhood) commented on her lifetime support of the police. She wanted to know how officers dealt with all the negativity they experience in the line of duty.
Deputy Chief Ramirez responded that positive relationships with the citizens and strong support of family and friends help officers keep a positive attitude.
Ms. Adkins (Meadow Creek Neighborhood) asked if the budget cuts would affect the Gang Unit.
Chief Halstead responded that the budget adopted by the City Council has no cuts to public safety and committed to keeping an effective Gang Unit.
Lt Sparrow added that Fort Worth has the largest Gang Unit in North Texas. He gave a quick explanation of the different sections within the Gang Unit, including Intelligence, Enforcement, Intervention and Detectives. He also provided the contact phone number.
Deputy Chief Robertson spoke about the CCPD election and introduced board members David Vasquez and Joe Deleon.
Mr. Neil (Candleridge Neighborhood) challenged audience members to get involved in Code: Blue program.
South Division Crime Prevention Specialist Billy Rudd spoke about National Night Out events to be held on Tuesday, October 6th.
Ms. Powers (Westcreek Neighborhood) praised the way the public and police work together to catch criminals. She expressed concerns about students jaywalking across McCart near South Hills High School.
Captain Pulliam responded that patrol will coordinate with Traffic and SSI officers to address the jaywalking issue.
Ms Contrerras and Ms. Kruger (Meadowcreek Elementary School) asked for assistance with traffic control around the school during student drop off and pick up.
Lt Edney said he would direct Motor Officers to patrol the area around the school during those times.
Ms. Spann (Meadow Creek Neighborhood) commented on how downtown, her neighborhood and the entire City of Fort Worth is the safest area to live.
Mr. Cohen (Candleridge Neighborhood) asked when early voting will be held for the CCPD election.
Councilmember Jungus Jordan responded that early voting would be October 19th - 30th. He also praised the Code: Blue program and encouraged more citizen support and participation.
Officer Daniel Segura explained the process for online serial number registration available on the department’s website.
Officer Sharron Neal announced the date for the next MAC and CAPA training class would be Jan 7, 2010. Also, the next CCPD informational meeting would be held at Christ Church on October 8th.
