Fees and Information |
The
Auto Pound is open 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Towing
fees are set by City Ordinance No. 12924.

Wrecker
fees:
Standard: $135.00
Tilt Bed/Rollback: $135.00
Heavy Duty: $216.00 per hour
Preservation/Impoundment fee: $20.00
Storage fee: $20.00 per day. Over 25 feet: $30.00 per day
Notification fee: $50.00
Extra Labor on Towage: $100.00 per hour
Second Wrecker: $100.00 per hour 1 hour minimum
Notification
letters will be sent to the last known owner/lien holder after 48
hours and the $50.00 Notification Fee will be applied to the final
cost of the impoundment. Extra labor charges will be applied to
the wrecker fee, when applicable.
A State-issued ID must be presented along with proof of ownership,
i.e. title, current registration, contract if not older than one
year or notarized bill of sale, prior to viewing or retrieving an
impounded vehicle.
| Administrative
Hearing/Appeal Hearing |
The Code of the City of Fort Worth, Article IX, Section 22-302,
advises, persons having their vehicle impounded have a right to
an administrative hearing and appeal hearing. The hearing will be
in reference to the propriety of the impoundment of their vehicle.
As of September 1, 2005, the Justice Court - Precinct 1 located
at 100 W. Weatherford (817) 884-1395 has jurisdiction.

of owners of stored vehicles to hearings.
The owner of a vehicle that has been removed and placed in a vehicle
storage facility without the consent of the owner of the vehicle
is entitled to a hearing on whether probable cause existed for the
removal and placement. A written request must be delivered to the
Court before the sixth day after the date the vehicle was placed
in the vehicle storage facility, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and
legal holidays. The request must contain the following:

The
name, address and telephone number of the owner of the vehicle

The
location and date from which the vehicle was removed
-
The
name, address and telephone number of the vehicle storage facility
in which the vehicle was placed

Fort
Worth Auto Auction Information

Auctions
are scheduled every other Wednesday to dispose of abandoned or seized
vehicles including trailers and motorcycles. Miscellaneous surplus
items from the Fort Worth Police Department Property Room and other
City of Fort Worth sources may also be included at these auctions.

The auction
is open to the public; no entrance fee is charged.

A dealer’s license is not required; however, registration
requires a Texas driver’s license.

Gates open at 8:00 a.m. with bidding to begin at 9:00 a.m. June
– September and 10:00 a.m. October –May
-
Lists of vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, and miscellaneous
property are available on the Lonestar website (www.lonstarauctioneers.com)
the Friday before each auction.

No one
under the age of 18 is allowed on the lot.
-
All property is sold as-is. Bidders are not allowed to start
the vehicles prior to the auction but will be advised by the
auctioneer if the vehicle runs.

All property
goes to the highest bidder.
Payment:
-
Payment
is required within 30 minutes after the end of the auction.
-
Cash is
accepted; credit cards are not accepted.
-
Checks will be accepted with a bank letter of credit. The bank
letter must state: “_______ is a customer of this bank.
This bank will guarantee unqualified payment to Lone Star Auctioneers
on account #_______ up to the amount of $______. No stop payment
will be issued regarding this transaction. This letter expires
on ______.” The expiration of the letter must not be sooner
than two weeks following the auction.

Checks may be accepted without a bank letter if Lone Star Auctioneers
agree to guarantee the funds for a fee of 2.5% that will be
charged to the buyer.
Property Removal:
-
All property must be towed from the lot at the expense of the
buyer auction based on the following criteria:
-
Vehicles towed off of the lot by TxDOT-certified wrecker
may be removed anytime following the auction through 6:00
p.m. on Thursday;

Vehicles may be removed with a trailer, tow dolly, tow bar
during daylight hours only (Wednesday: through 6:00 p.m.;
Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)

No chains, tow strap, rope or pushing vehicles will be allowed
-
If a vehicle
is not removed by 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, it will be impounded
and storage fees will begin accumulating.

No repair work will be permitted on impound property except
changing tires.

Vehicles may not be driven off the lot unless the owner demonstrates
proof of registration and insurance prior to removal.
