Sex Crimes Registration Apprehension and Monitoring (S.C.R.A.M.) Unit is assigned to the Violent Personal Crimes Section of the Criminal Investigations Division, which is part of the Special Services Bureau, and was formed in November of 1998. S.C.R.A.M. is responsible for the investigation of all sexually assaultive offenses, excluding those with child victims. In addition, the Unit is charged with the enforcement of the Sex Offender Registration Program as dictated in Chapter 62 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
